Rare Discs accepts trade-ins of good condition used discs for store credit. This chart illustrates typical value for discs traded in. The final value is based on brand, model, plastic type and condition.

Traded in Discs must be:

  • Your Discs: If the disc is inked, we verify the phone number against customer records. We will not accept discs that have another customer's phone number on them other than for the purposes of returning that disc to the customer (lost discs).
  • Clean: Dirty discs that need to be cleaned by our staff will reduce their trade value substantially.
  • Free of Smells: We do not accept discs with any scent: smoke, swamp, mold or mildew.
  • Playable Condition: We send unusable discs to disc recycling programs such as Trash Panda. Receive a small store credit for bringing in discs that are no longer usable. Or donate usable discs and we will pass them on to school programs or individuals who need them.

FAQ:

I paid $25+ for this disc and I haven't thrown it! Why won't you give me more?

Since we cannot verify any discs traded in by customers are unthrown, all discs have to be sold as used. Handling used discs takes a lot more time and effort than new discs. This service is designed to help customers get rid of discs in the fastest, easiest way rather than provide the highest value for each individual disc.

Can I ship in discs to you for trade-in?

Yes we accept discs shipped in to the store. Please note that we verify any inked phone number against customer records. Also, if the discs are dirty, stinky, or in poor condition we will return them to the customer (at their expense), or recycle them. Please reach out first to get a quote before shipping us the discs. We have the right to refuse any items shipped to us, even if a quote is offered first.

Why do you only provide store credit?

We are a small business and don't want to deal with the extra accounting of providing cash to customers. Sorry!

How long is store credit valid for?

Store credit is issued as a single use discount code valid for one year after being issued and must be used in one transaction.
