This disc is NOT PDGA APPROVED.
Yes, it is stamped on the bottom "PDGA Approved". Yes that is an error. Why was it not PDGA Approved?
- The rim configuration is too sharp
- The inside edge is too sharp
This means that the disc feels quite angular and pointy in the hands. We're not really sure what that means for the flight of the disc, but the angular feel is quite noticeable.
Only 460 of these prototype Flying Fish were made. The flight numbers are yet to be determined, so if you find this disc entertaining to throw, follow @RareDiscGolf and Ocean Discs on social media and hit us up to let us know what you think the numbers should be.
---
Ocean discs describes this as a "straight to overstable torque resistant fairway driver, trusted for windy conditions and power throwers". Well, if the sharp leading edge has anything to say, this disc will absolutely cut through the wind. There's not much information available yet about how the disc actually flies as it is a prototype, so if you enjoy a surprise or a limited edition NOT PDGA APPROVED disc, this is a fun one to try.
As this is a prototype, there may be other minor defects.
Swirly Pacific Plastic: A premium recycled plastic with a softer flexible feel for great grip. This plastic has good durability and a slightly more stable flight. These discs are made from 60% recycled ocean waste plastic, such as fishing nets, bottles and barrels.
